Jane Welch, age 51, was arrested on Thursday, March 14, following an incident in Westborough, according to Westborough Police.
On Thursday morning, police received reports regarding Welch's behavior while driving children to school. In response, officers made contact with Welch in the area of 135 East Main St. and conducted an investigation.
Soon after stopping her, police arrested Welch and charged her with:
- Operating under the influence, second offense;
- Negligent operation of a motor vehicle;
- Child endangerment while operating under the influence.
Officers also took action to ensure the safety of the children who had been aboard Welch's bus, police said.
The department thanked those who reported Welch's behavior before her arrest.
"We encourage anyone with further information or concerns regarding the safety of children to come forward, as your assistance is invaluable in our efforts to uphold public safety," said Westborough Police Chief Todd Minardi on social media.
